Subject
Hinckley Fire of 1894
Description
One of the earliest publications about the Hinckley Fire, originally published in Swedish as Eld-cyklonen, eller, Hinckley-branden: en sann beskrifning öfver århundradets hemskaste katastrof: ett eldhaf slukar på några timmar öfver 500 menniskor: gräsliga dödsscener: eldens sälsamma nycker circa 1894. This English translation by Charles John LaVine in 2010 is somewhat imperfect, occasionally containing errors and inexplicable formatting. Still, however, the source provides an invaluable account of the fire itself and Åkermark's desire to publish it in Swedish to serve the growing immigrant community.
